Some headunits have a specific 'aerial' output that will send the signal to the aerial when only the radio is on. I had an older Sony head unit that did this.
My new Pioneer headunit does NOT have a specific 'aerial' output, so i have to use the 'remote' output wire - which pretty much sends the signal out as long as the headunit is on, regardless of which mode it is in.
So question is, what wire have u connected it to on the headunit?

I bought a genuine electric antenna accessory from Mitsu that included the wiring loom for the stock HU, on which there is an orange or pink (I think) antenna trigger wire - it goes up when the radio is on and down when the CD player is enabled. I don't think they're available any more (I waited close to 3 months for mine) but you could probably somehow just add the wire to the factory loom yourself if you're comfortable doing that.
Unfortunately tho there isn't a half-height option - might have to figure that one out as it's a bit annoying when you back into parking spaces where trees are too close!

Ryan,
with an aftermarket antenna assembly it will not be possible to have a half height function. The Mitsu half height system was controlled directly by the motor assembly. It just had to be wired correctly.
What you can have, however, is a interuption switch. Power antennas only go up or down depedning in a signal wire connected to the radio HU. If this wire has power, the antenna thinks the radio is on and goes up and similarly if power is disconected (you turn the radio off or the ignition) the antenna retracts. (the signal wire does not power the antenna).
Once you find this wire install a switch where you can interupt the signal and therefore control the antenna.
Also my car has a pioneer head unit and the HU has no antenna wire as such but i have installed a switch in my car to give full height, half height and retract at will.
Anything is possible. Good Luck.
(sorry if this was really boring)
