I started another thread about this a while ago when I thought it was the oil filter or switch, Mitsubishi put it up on a hoist (free of charge nice guys Morphett Vale S.A.) and had a thorough look and suggested that it is either the crank seal or the gasket behind the oil pump above the oil filter, they took off the top cover and both cam seal areas are dry as are the rocker cover gaskets. Last night I thoroughly degreased the engine in the area where the leak appears to be coming from and ran the engine, it took a while before it leaked again but when it did I could see that it was coming from behind a pulley above the oil filter, the area around the main crank pulley (with the timing marks on it) was completely dry, I have attached a photo of the pulley where it is leaking which I am assuming is the oil pump pulley, but someone correct me if I'm wrong, is this a common area for those hard to find oil leaks? Hopefully this picture may help others with TJ's who have difficult to locate oil leaks. Thanks in advance

The oil pump is driven by the timing belt. I might be wrong, but the pulley that you're indicating looks like the tensioner for the alternator belt.

Yes I guess it would have to be driven by the timing belt rather than the pulley, but it is behind that pulley where the leak is, I believe there is a gasket which can go above the oil filter.

Is there oil runing under the exhaust manifold on the head? It may be the front bank cam seal. You can take the top part of the timing cover off quite easily to check. Just 2 10mm bolts and a 12.

Mitsubishi took the cover off and both cam seals were dry.
And Yes, it is the belt tensioner pulley.
