Most of you know that I have many problems, except this particular problem pertains to my car... Anyway, we've had a fair bit of rain up here, roads flooded etc. I managed to drive my car through a bit of flooded road that appeared much shallower than I thought, car survived the trip through, kept running and such, all good I thought.
However, now if my car sits between 1,000 and 2,000 RPM in any gear (generally 3rd and 4th @ 60km/h) it will violently shudder for variable periods of time (1 - 10 seconds).
Car is a TJ 3.5L Tiptronic Auto. Engine oil, transmission oil and coolant levels are fine, car starts first time every time, no loss of power and shifts are still smooth as.
What could it be?

Gremlins....
Quick, burn your car!!
When its shuddering, do you think its misfiring? Or does it just feel like driveline shudder?

Accelerating or coasting?
Accelerating, cruising and coasting.
Can't hear anything misfiring or anything, but it sure as **** feels like what my astron was doing when it was firing on 3 cylinders.

Haven't checked the leads, plugs or dizzy yet... They were my job for tomorrow, it's so ****ing annoying because it's not a constant problem. Engine mounts are fine too.

Took it to mechanics today for them to check it out, he's baffled but I've got it booked in on Friday to be looked at... Getting more frequent

Unfortunatly, it doesn't take much now days. With the progression of EFI and electronic technology, mechanics just can't keep up. You don't see mechanics going and doing courses for the new stuff. They end up just replacing parts until its fixed in some cases :( The art of diagnostics is a lot harder now days :(
Sounds like you are dropping spark on a specific cylinder/s. Bring it round today some time and I will have a look. I can narrow it down to a cylinder at least.
