Ok, long story short, my fuel/petrol (for searching purposes :) ) gauge aint working, it starts at full when i fill up, but within about 10L used it drops to emtpy and the fuel light comes on. I check the electronic trip meter, to find the Litres Used is accurate (i proved it was the right result, as when it happened i straight away filled up, just to make sure it wasnt a leak, and i filled up with the amount i used).

So, is this a sensor of some kind, or the gauge stuffed?

Car is an '03 KJ rada Series 2, so the good gauges :)

Bear in mind, the car has gone a 'lil' past its service interval... (couldnt help it, lack of funds kept pushing it back more and more)

So yeah, anyone had this happen or know what it could be? It wont bug me so much as i can use the electronic readout, but wanna know if it could be worse

the sender must be loosing contact with the float holder

remove the sender from the tank and see if you can bend the float contact wire back into place so it remains in constant contact with the coiled wires of the sender

not mechanically minded hehe so sounds like easy fix?
