Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone has had dramas with the magna 5sp? Does anyone have the specs on the box?
What I need to know is the standard clamping pressure of the plate?
The main issue I have had with mine is that I cant select any gears. My gates wont open, and ive checked the gbox, it isnt seperating from the motor, its bolted up tight. What could cause this?
clutch components may not be holding enough pressure, your fork thing that pushes the thrust bearing against the pressure plate may be bent or broken, or its pivot point may have been worn down.
can you select gears with the engine off?

Its ok, I found the problem. I accidently fitted the standard pressure plate instead of my beefed up one and it shattered the pressure plate and shot it out of the bellhousing.

That is not caused from using a std pressure plate on a higher power motor.
That has been caused by some one at some stage doing a big dump to a lower gear.
Those springs buffer down shifts when the plate comes into contact with the pressure plate.
The worst in general that would happen with a pressure plate is that it would not grip the plate, you would be struggling on any second gen for a new plate not to grip.
It may be a new kit that has also been made out of a reco?

Well yeah, it was off a recon motor setup I had in the car
So it might well be a recond pressure plate.
Either way, will slap my HD one on and clean up the bellhousing and will be ok for tuning till I get another housing
Bloody weird tho for that part to let go
And the only dumping of gears woulda been on the dyno, but tuner didnt say anything bsides that the clutch slips, would think he woulda cut sick if something blew up on his dyno.
