I know that you can't put an older motor into a newer car due to emmisions reasons.

I am not quite sure of youre question. What vehicle do you have that you want to put the 2.6 into and what engine do you have in the car now.

What model 2.6 do you want to put into the car.

More information needed before I can give you the answer

i have a 2.6L astron in my TP wagon now. and a mate of a mate has a sigma with a 2.6L astron turbo sitting in his back yard rusting out. but before i go buy the car off him and swap the motors over i want to be sure it will fit.

No it will not fit your vehicle. THere are lots of changes that owuld have to be made to fit.

I thought the Sigma's only came in 2L's, ie "Astron 2000"

Though i've always thought you could transfer the turbo from the Sigma (or am I thinking of the Scorpion?) and into the Magna with the 2.6L with little difficulties. I could be wrong, it was an assumption i've had for years but no one could tell me whether that was true, and since then i've forgotten about asking it around te forums.

hmm sigma turbos used the blow-thru carb setup i think.. so if ya had an efi magna, theres about ya only problem...

loads of ppl have done it though.. most just using the exhaust manifold and making adapter pieces to suit the EFI

cheaper than making a custom exhaust manifold :)

-btw- millert85, if u change ur mind and ya dont wannit, tell ur friend i'll take it :P heh
