If you cut them the car will only bottom out harder. They are a high density foam and are a part of the suspensions design. They are designed to soften the effects of your suspension bottoming and if you cut them there will be less to absorb this impact. So if you car is bottoming hard then maybe you need new ones. Even with S/L springs.

yeah id get some new better shocks (assuming you are running stock ones). Cutting bumpstops isnt the best idea.
type40 is right, you will bottom out way harder.. for example, you could smash your exhaust or even bust your oil sump.

thanks for the response i think ill replace the bumpstops and see how that goes if that doesnt stop it superlows at least in the front will be gone!

strange, you must be hitting some pretty heavy bumps.
But for the love of god, don't cut your bumpstops

I had King S/L in my TF and they never really bottomed out but i had new shocks so maybe you do need to replace them as well? That could be the reason you are punching the bumpstops. Insufficient compression damping.
EDIT... You have new shocks... Try new bumpstops then. See how that goes.

no im going slow since the lowering it happens on new sections of road thats above the height of the old road, and going into driveways as well, it also happened on springwood road last week when i was cruising with the mca boys when the road dips down before it hits the hairpins

Yeah thats nothing out of the ordinary, I'd go to a mechanic or a suspension place and get it checked out.

its booked in on saturday with my mechanic, i just wanted to check to see if this was a common problem and if there was any solutions before i took it to him so it might be easier for him to diagnose. also could worn control arm bushes add to the stress on the suspension?
thanks guys ill let you know how i go!

does this look like something is missing? it does to me i dont think i have any bumpstops!
my mechanic said something was dodgy when he was installing them, as it was bottoming out when it was on stock suspension luckily i bought new bumpstops im gonna get my mechanic to fix them tomorrow...
has anybody got pics of there suspension setup for cross reference?

While you are there get some Monroe Strut Savers, these are new bump stops with boots to cover the shaft.
To be honest, even with bump stops you still risk other damage plus with the lack of suspension travle the car is simply dangerous thus why it is illegal to lower that far with no engineers cert. To get this you would have to re do all moving parts to ensure enough clearance.
They look awsome low but unfortunately cars need also to be able to perform on all roads as well

hehe at least you guys have King Springs Super Low on your rides. Unfortunately I have just lows and the underneath sometimes scrapes lol.

i dont know how diffferent stock ride heights and stock sussy travel is on a 3rd gen
If you are bottoming out there is a chance, that the kyb's are stuffed, as new as they are.
for reference sake, i brought NEW munroes gt-gas, drove to rocky and one exploded...would bottom out on the road reflectors...and on the trip back, the left hand side one went as well due to the extra stress.
It blew the bump stops completely off, and covered my brakes/wheel arch in oil. Nothing is impossible, but bump stops arent there to absorb bumps they are a last resort, to stop you from detroying your struts on a large bump.
if you cant have them on without having to cut them, then the suspension travel has been minimised way to much. I replaced my munroes under warrenty, got new strut savers, reinstalled and now 40thousand kays no dramas. Bump stops still there and unrooted and the suspension is nice and tight like it should be.

That section of road is a 100km/h zone and I presume it is the section where you cross Shaws Creek, the road is through a dip with the bridge raised up from the road slightly.
Most cars will have their entire suspension travel used as they pass through that section of road. Even with your adjustment you will need to simply slow down as you cross over the small bridge there.

it was my first time on that road and first day i had the car lowered, doesnt help when you have other people on your ass pushing you to go faster it was the person quoted in my signature:D

It's downhill with a run up of about 5 km's, I'm sure you could have got your speed up to 100Km/h. Much faster through there and any car will bottom out it's suspension.
