Hey!!
One of my TP's has W starting off the engine number, i thought they were meant to be V's?
Does anyone know if this would suggest say a TR motor put in as replacement (as its not the original motor) or did some just come out with W at the start?
Alex.

my guess is just a TR block
the difference will be in the oil pump and timing chain set up
the rest will be horribly the same as the TP ...with flat pistons
just so boring
take the rocker cover off ..tell us if it has the rocker rollers
wonder if the fitted a balance shaft removal kit in it
W is for WIN ...V is for Vwats the matter Vwith my magna

hehe, hmm well i can guess without looking... no, itd have nothing... for some reason it seems to be gutless...
Anyone got any suggestions as to why? I bought a tn elite for a couple hundred the other day and that seems to go better. Theyre both injected autos... i changed the big black box/airflow meter the other day but thats done nothing... it goes ok but just seems underpowered.
I want it to go better... seeing as its my GT Wagon!! didnt want to say it but now you all know... wagons wouldnt be much heavier making them pathetic goers would they?
Anyway, any suggetsions as to what i can fiddle with to make it go normal?

blocked cat? fuel filter, spark plugs, all the usual stuff, u done all that?
my engine in my TM was 'RPM xxx xxx'
normally supposed to be V
W may possibly be a TR.
M denotes a sigma astron.

I think the RPM part would suggest its been stamped on by the checking station/regency place... as in a police number?
Unless it was some hot/worked motor custom built up from the ground perhaps:P

as a wagon owner
and seen the changes before and after the modifications
the wagon auto isnt gutless at all
have the motor looked over and find the reason for its lack of power
if the auto isnt very good pop a better one in
the wagon is stable if all the suspension and bushes are as new
and 4 good matching tyres
when the rocker roller conversion ,extractors blue injectors are done
the TP wagon is a power house
My TN would do better if a TP auto box could be added

RPM is a company of REPCO who reco engines, you give them your worn out motor, they give you a reco that usually dies in about 3 months :(
I used to run a servo in Tas that used RPM engines, in general 1 out of 3 did not make it out the workshop and out of the remaining 2, about 30% would be back in a week.
It is a TR/S block, this can be confirmed by the knock sensor mounting hole under the inlet manifold.
If it has flat tops or not is anyones guess, will depend if it was built for a TR or a TM-P
You may have the worse situation with dished pistons and m5 or earlier head. = lower compression
