Hi
I was trying to get some extractors for my manual V6 kr verada, the only mob that I could get a hold of that makes them wants $700 for them
Does anyone know a place where I could get another set cheaper?
The other option was to fabricate some myself which shouldn’t be much trouble, however I am unsure if I will need a engineers cert to go with it???? Etc
Any help is good help
Thanks again guys

First of all you won't need an engineers cert.
And second - extractors for a SOHC V6 won't do much. You'll probably only gain 5hp (if lucky) and the sound difference will be unoticable. Where if you were to put the extractors on the DOHC (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56463) engine there is a noticeable difference in sound (more deeper performance note) and a lot more response from 2500rpm up to 5000rpm. Fuel consumption is the same.
Save the money for an aftermarket ECU or a cat back exhaust and CAI.
But yeah if you're able to fabricate them yourself for fun then yeah why not whack them on. You never know :)

In australia im pretty sure they will have to be custom made, i dont think there are off the shelf units.
however, USA has them covered.
I was thinking about buying a set pre-DOHC conversion idea stage.
Full stainless steel. These are made for the SOHC 3000GT.
So no idea if they 100% bolt on, but worth looking into as its the same engine
Since my net is homo atm, go ebay.com and type in 3000GT headers and yeah should see a few SOHC matches

yeah mate i hade the same problem when i tried to get a set for my KR, unfortunately they made them for the 4 cly 2nd gen and for the 3rd gen but not for the v6 second gen, they said that there wasnt enough room to do it. So unfortunately you will have to get a custom set which means saving $$$ on cost wont be easy. If you can fabricate them i wish you the best of luck!

rpw make some.
One that note dont buy them. Also value for money they wont really be worth it without more major work happening..

Is it just me or have I heard that the extractors from a 3rd gen V6, I think the first SOHC 3.0, would fit on the 2nd gen and have a much better design. As in, not having a T junction at the end of the manifold

With any extractors there should be no T join at the bottom of the rear manifold.
I haven't Actually seen or heard of anyone putting on 3rd gen extractors as all the accessories are on the opposite side...
Ive heard the stock manifolds bolt on though..

3rd Gen are totally different bolt up pattern.
Pity KB is no longer here, he could then show you all the rubbish that RPW puts out in so far as extractors go, his came off the car, in bits. I think that goes for everyting that RPW claims to make but actually rips off from others. (they advertised their race performance extractors, they were pace makers that Bain had taken pics of  )
your best increase, all be it small, unbolt your engine pipe, make a new rear section and tune the length to match the front pipe.
The "T" piece being referred to is the rear collector, in the 2nd gen it goes straight in, in the third, it is longer to match better the front pipe.

hi all , here is the facts , rpw sell the extractors but they are made buy liverpool exhaust , they i believe are the only ones that do them ,problems i have had were the rear flange gasget was breaking frequantly ( every six months ) due to the bolt hole size on this flange was diffrent on each side so i had it drilled to the same size now no more problems , also after 4 years of having them on i have had cracks appear in the rear extractors , i have had them welded , i also had mine hpc coated , i do not recomend this as you need to grind the coating of to reweld any cracks that may appear
as for performance , i noticed a great difference in grunt , i also run cold air into the box , i have not upgraded my computer yet and have been told that yes upgrade the computer if you dont want to change the exhaust but this will only advance the timing , buy putting extractors on the car you make it breath better and the standard computer will respond to this and allow more air and power , mind you i would still like to upgrade the computer just to see if i get more out of it
one more note , i also upgraded my whole exhaust system when i put on the extractors hi flow cat , hi flow hotdog , hi flow rear muffler and 2 1/2 all stainless mandrel bent exhaust
cost to do the lot was about $2000.00
one of the best mods i ever done
cheers norm

Yeh sorry i was talking about the stock 3rd gen exhaust manifolds. As you say the do bolt on, would these be a worthwhile modification considering the crappy design of the 2nd gen manifolds and the ability to pick a 3rd gen one up for very cheap?

I have exhaust gaskets here from both, they are different and do not bolt on. I also have heads here from a third gen, the bold pettern is different.
In relation to who RPW get these from, it does not matter, if I sell a member a part, regardless of where I get it from, I must ensure that any warranties are honoured. If I have an issue with my supplier it is my issue and the customer should not feel any of the consequence of this at all.
