I was wondering if any kind of airbag removal was legal or could be legalised? More inparticular the airbags in the front seats. I would like to one day change the front seats in my car, but they have airbags in them.

probably not removal of any safety device is illegal imho, btw why would you want to remove them anyways? leather? just get them made to fit with the side air bags. Besides that you would get a airbag light on constantly on the dash

hmm, didnt think it was legal and wasnt really thinkin of leather seats, but wanted sumthing a little more supportive and comfortable, kind of like how the seats in my old KR were. I tried looking on the Vicroads site and I couldnt find anything about airbags in seats all it really stated was about seat belts and rails.

yeah your best bet to get a 100% answer is to ring and talk to an engineer they can give you the definite answer

Dont take my word for this (as laws may have changed) but i'm pretty sure if the car was offered in a trim level, without that particular feature (ie, if a pov pack model didnt have those airbags) then that trim level part may be refitted to the vehicle.

get your stock seats rebolstered, they basically re-do the foam inserts in yor stock seats
