to cut a long story short, battery in my TL went flat, now the radio needs a security code. I dont have the code, have checked the manual but its missing (being kept in a ''safe place'' like the manual says to do, by the original owner).

Does anyone know how i can override it or are all the codes the same? Any help would be good as the radio only works for about 5 minutes before turning off! Thanks alot guys
Cheers

phone a mitsu dealer - they will be able to dig up the code for you.

i think they need the VIN of the car to be able to find it tho - so have it handy just in case.

cheers mate, they shouldnt charge me or anything though should they? I know some car dealerships like the squeeze every dollar out of their customers at times, like nissan for instance.... stupid fat heads

i did this when i first bought the car and we had to fax them proof that we had just purchased the vehicle before we could get the code.

when i had to get mine,i had just picked it up and couldnt find the code anywhere for the radio, so just drove round the corner to the service dept - and they knew that the car had just been sold to me so didnt have a problem in giving me the code.

i then took the radio out the next day and replaced it with my alpine gear...

all mitsu has to do is push a few buttons in a computer and the info is right there for them i think - wont take them long to find it for ya.

the headunit is a CDA 4100r
the thing under it, is the dvd reader - DVA 5210

under the passengers seat, have the 6stacker mp3 player.
just put the dvd reader / player there to fill the empty space really, didnt feel like making it a pocket under the H/u

screens not touchscreen unfort :(
thatl be the next thing i do - get a alpine IVA (something model) which is touchscreen.
that model is about... 2 or 3 years old now i think...

there is a fair bit of clearance behind the screen to the vents, and i rarely drive with the screen out these days - so ac still does its trick.

it sits too high in the dash - and esp at night it can be distracting, apart from being illegal.. hehe

when i first got it, i used to have the screen on full auto - ie open and close whenever you turn on car / turn it off, but i cant be bothered with it anymore to be honest, so i have it on auto close for when the acc is turned off.
