Hi Guys,

Was having some steering wheel vibration at 90+ speed. Got all wheels balanced from Bob jane T mart, still the vibration was there. Increased the tyre pressure from 30 psi to 36 psi, the vibration reduced significantly, but still some vib is there, only just. It feels like increasing the tyre pressure was helping to reduce the vib.

Any idea wat the prob could be? Its a stock 15 alloy for a TJ Advance 03. Tyres are in reasonably good shape.

Thanks in Advance

the mags /tyres are still out of balance

If you only just had them balanced
I would go back to them and tell them what is happening

6 psi made some difference
maybe you lost a weight or a tyre is a little egg shaped

or rotate your tyres front to back

Hi, ok just few questions:

So it starts to vibrate when you go past 90 right?

Pay attention to the following:

Does it happen only when you push the accelerator & when you let go its all good or much better? Or it simply keeps on vibrating regardless?

If you just got wheels balanced its unlikely that that is the problem, although you never know, when i bough a new set of wheels & tyres (balanced from where i bought them) it was horrible so i took them to another place & they fixed it (some wheels were more then 120 grams out!!!!!) If the vibrations are constant over a certain speed regardless of acceleration it could be the following:

Balance
Buckled rims (not a lot you can do about it, exept get a new rim)
Things like nuts not properly tightened (unlikely since you got it done by a tyre joint)

If the vibrations are happening under acceleration only (or get more severe) its most likely that your drive shafts need replacing (cv joints) its about $450 to get that done. I had that happen to my TJ, i have balanced my wheels 3 times, didnt help at all.

Also check you engine mounts a common problem on 3rd gens.
