Hiyu dudes
May be upgrading to a 380 soon that has the centre console that doesnt allow easy fitment of an aftermarket head unit - just wondering if any options have come about for fitting a head unit and still be able to use the steering wheel audio controls and also still have the LCD display working......
big ask i know, just wondering what other people have come accross

im positive kenwood have made a unit that you adapt to the original deck that maintains all the orginal functions like steering wheel controls, cd player etc, but adds line outputs, input converter for the LCD displays and so on.

totally off the head unit topic..
bec told me that you would be in at mitsu looking at a 380 on friday arvo.. your not trading the ralliart are you?
what model 380 were you looking at?
the head units in some are double-DIN that accomodate an AVN6000 nicely - they were a factory option on the GTs and GTLs i think.. and there is also an accomodation kit that has the different fascia to allow aftermarket units or the AVN to be installed..
i assume your looking at one with the integrated stereo?

na mate.......the ralliart is not for sale - we are (sadly) letting go of the verada - she's been a great car, and still is, but i feel like a change from the grandpa style handling and ride.....soo......
we are looking a a nice series 1 380 LX.....thats right....LX, one level under the GT - noice, sunroof, leather, power seats both sides
have had extra's chucked in like window tint to my specs, (including tint on the sunroof) rear high-rise spoiler half price extra 3 year warranty (the good one, you know what i mean) once the factory warranty runs out - car is 2005 model first rego'd in April 2006....
in fact - you know this car - you detailed it
lots of work being done to it, all scraches gotten rid of, a couple little dents popped having work done on the gutter rash on the rims, the list goes on
but on topic - yes it is the intergrated head unit.........i dont mind keeping the look, its just a matter of having an alternative head unit to fit so i can hook up me amps and subbie thats in the verada now.....i will be keeping the whole stereo except the Eclipse deck.....i made the mistake of selling the original head unit......DOH!
alternativly - can the centre dash peice on ones like the platinum series that will accomodate a double din unit - can one of these be fitted?

I heard somewhere that alpine makes one that suits the 380.

ahhhh haaaaaaa! i know the exact one.. the storm grey one.. i tell you what - that thing was PUTRID having the near white leather - was soooo filthy.. as you would expect because it came from the department of treasury and finance - aka tas police..
but it is a nice car..
i say - rip out the integrated stereo.. get the double DIN dash surround and whack in another AVN :D
and, ill probably get to detail the rada wagon once its traded haha so they can re-sell it..
