Hi,
i was never game enough to drill through my dash (TJ). But having 2 leds swinging in the wind is starting to look daggy.

i have one led for the alarm.
another for a thermostat system i have running to sense oil temp.

Thanks

Oh and anyone else having problems with loose/rattly rear view mirrors?

can't help you with the LED's but my rear vision mirror shakes and vibrates alot. all ive been able to do is twist it into a new position to stop the shaking. is it just the mirror bit thats loose in your car or the whole thing (like where it connects to the windscreen)?

whole thing. the sub used to make it vibrate disgustingly.

but i shoved some tissue there, and it stopped. but it just shakes all the time now.

could you try mounting them in places set aside for switches (unsure if your model has any, i drive a TS so have many) although that might look a little weird

Had the problem with the mirror in the TR, the pivot just wore out and gradually got worse. Eventually ended up taking it out and replacing it with one from the wreckers. Could probably fix it if you had the time and effort to pull it all apart.

Put the LED;s in the mirror! in the plastic bit while you stuff it with tissues, blu tac is good too.

the mirror is new actually. well not new, but was replaced as a warranty replaced item in late 06.

I mounted my alarm LED in the small space between the climate control and the headunit in my TJ II. I uses a 3mm LED instead of a 5mm one and glued it from behind. It is very neat and almost looks factory. I can take photos during next week if you like.

May I suggest mounting them just inside the demister vent for the windscreen, that would be very stealthy.

i mounted my led in the side pillar so at night the whole windscreen lights up blue....I didnt want it to be stealth cause whats the point of having an alarm if the people wanting to break in have to look for it. This way they can tell from far away and leave it alone.
