6sik6trimming
03-03-2008, 10:44 AM
its a meshy feel and you have to use contact adhesive with it the stuff is CARBOMESH i got from the markets in sydney last week end for $45 a metre

Most people just wet lay/wrap over the pieces either with a vacuum bag or just gravity.
'Snot that hard, just fiddly.
Unless you are doing something like a bonnet, the weight reduction is SFA.

Me says their will be no weight reduction due to the fact it is being ADDED to exsisting interior bits.

Correct, unless you are replacing them, no loss. Only worthwhile for large bits.

yeah its real tight, you gotta really yank it. I worked up a sweat trying to take mine out. Also you said this film is $45 a meter? Isnt that a bit much for a film? Real carbon fiber can get that low. I would say its a film that contains real carbon fibers. Looks good either way, post the dash pics.

That's really easy, i've done that several times. Just push it from behind and it will pop out in front.

This was my old project, but with real CF

But this is what she is now..., the CF was peeled off bit by bit (mistake on my part during preparation), so I decided to just paint it during my carpc project.

I got mine abroad, its a 3k twill, but yeah you can get it locally at www.solidsolutions.com.au only it's a plain weave. It's clear coated it and it turned out very smooth and shiny.

Thanks! I need some for my headlight bezels (going CF for the bezel so I can fit a pair of Honda Accord Euro HID projectors and a pair of Hella 90mm highbeams + 5 superflux (per side) white LED's as parkers for a very different look:)
Thought about plain fibreglass, but CF is a bit special :)
