Ok, i did a search bout this but didn't find much because I'm more after figures but lets say i got a TJ 3.5 Advance (chances are it's auto) and I would rather prefer the more powerful Sports/VR-X engine system. What would I need to do to get those figures of 163, would it just be the engine and ECU, or do i need to replace crap such as cam gears, cam shats, and lots of other bits?

Which brings me to my last question. How much for the whole package, including the transplant.

Would be greatly appreciated for any comments. And i dont need exact figures, it'd be ok if its in just thousands of dollars.

Thanksssss

u would get the 3.5l and get a sports exhaust put on it........ ;)

yeh the only difference between the 155kw advance and the 163kw sports is a high flo rear muffler like the lukey. (i think the ne they sue is walker or sumthing) and maybe a 1-2kw ECU tweak. thats it.

but also remembeer this is the engine. not at the wheels.

Well i'm just thinking cos when im older i wanna mod a TJ wagon, and none come manual unfortunately and only the sports comes with the 163kw engine. So if what Samurai and Tiphareth is true, then I have no problems (besides the auto) and I thank you all for your kind responses 8)

Peace Out! :)

i new that it was just a muffler to get to 163kw, but when u were sayin about the cams i wasnt sure wat u actually wanted to do, but yeah i noe wat ur tlkn about now.

yes, the difference is only a different muffler. engine spec or ecu specs remain the same.

something you prolly know, and im not having a go at you, but is just general info. You dont just "tweek" 1 or so kw. you have to change timing, etc. poweroutput isnt a variable you just enter eg. 155kw. its all to do with advanced functions of the ECU.

that was just info for those who dont know, and not having a go at you tiphread.

Ben, i respect your knowledge also. i also do work for an ECU manufacturing compnay, and i can say if the basics are the same, an ecu can be progammed to whatever power output.

also, i do hope for respects sake that you spelt my name wrongly, unintentionally.

cheers

like:Quote:"Enhanced with a free flowing australian designed exhaust system and unique engine calibration"
That's where ur extra kw'z are hhehe
my little bita change
btw trav, sounds like an interesting job ya have man!!

The engine calibration is marketing. There was an ECU upgrade, (or two), but that was between the 147kW, 150kW and 155kW engines as the cams were revised after the TH. Not sure what caused the 150kW but it exists. Exec to VR-X / Sports is just a muffler. Even my 3.0 saw an 8kW difference between stock and muffler and that's the difference between 155 and 163.

Hey guys out of curiousity. I have a TH with a lukey ultraflow would that mean i'm putting out similar power to the TJ sports. or would there be no power gain etc.

The ECU tweak was just some re-optimizing fuel and ignition ratio's for the extra air flow generated by the better flowing exhaust.

Nothing that cannot be reproduced by a piggy back ecu system.
