Hi All,
the electric fuel pump in my TM has decided to **** itself and i need to replace it. I know very little about these cars and my problem is that on the fuel tank there are 2 different objects attached that go inside the tank and i'm not sure which is the fuel pump  I have already posted this thread in the members lounge section but i thought i'd get more response here. I tried to delete it from the other spot but can't work out how.

Thanks MB its a carby model so its the electric pump in the fuel tank, however what i'm not sure of is which of the 2 electric items attached to the tank is the fuel pump and which is the sender unit.

fuel sender has only three screws and a wiring connection
the pump has more and a small piece of rubber fuel line and clamps
if it is a sedan

Thanks, ive managed to get mine out and find a replacement pump. Only trouble is that the new pump i was given is from a TP EFI model, i compared the 2 pumps and they don't seem to be majorly different. The most noticeable differences are the actual pump is some what larger and obviously the intake line has different connections for the EFI. What i'm wondering is would there be a huge problem if i simply cut the intake line and put a flare on it and then replace it in the tank? what i'm worried about is that because the pump is bigger it will push more fuel into the carby and cause it to flood. does anyone have any advice on this?

the float level needle inside the carby will stop the flooding
and your TM is the later model with the electric pump
Me very bad :flame: :liar:
the fuel pump pressure will be 19 to 25 psi
errr... carby with 19-25 psi of pressure :bowrofl:
like to see the needle stop that.

i have heard of floats collapsing when run too high in pressure... your after a pump thet flows maybe 5-8psi....

just realised typo and mistake about metric conversion on my part
apologies to bxc7 and trotty:nutkick: :fruitcake
part 14-3-1 of TN factory manual
flow rate =80 ltrs an hour
68 kPA to 96kPA output pressure
117.6kPA max
delivery pressure 19.6 to 24.5 kPa

Go tell mitsubishi that the factory repair manual is wrong
about its pumps electric pressure specs in all its carby models
well i wasn't talking about mitsu's... its just somthing i had heard. about too much pressure can collapse a float... am i wrong in that?

Just pasted this from another post but please read if you wnt your engine and fuel system intact
Not sure why people here are telling you to use the efi pump mate with high pressure hose, this is totally wrong advice full stop and there is no excuse for giving advice that is not educated and clearly wrong let alone dangerous for you to carry out!
If you use the EFI pump, the needle seat WILL NOT be able to cope with the pressure or flow of an efi pump, nor will the standard fuel filter for that matter. You will get away with if for a second or two but then it will be all over for both you and your car.
ONLY USE a fuel pump form a carb model, I have heard of people using the manual pump on these or if it helps I have a carb elec pump here from a TP wagon, not sure if it is what you are after.
