I was just looking at Magna Buff's info posts. On page 3 ( #23 Default Carby and EFI layouts) there is 2 clear pictures of astron engine (efi and carby models). I think I've looked everywhere, and this is the first time I've seen a clear picture of how the top radiator hose goes in (its shows that bendy bit is closest to the radiator on a EFI). That's how I would put it in, but I'm sure that the manual shows it with the bendy bit closest to the inlet manifold (no clear pictures of it). And I'm still not sure if the bend should be the highest point, or lowest point. I would put the bend down low, so that coolant from radiator goes down into the bend, then you can give it a squeeze to help it on its way, when topping it up.

i will have a look the picture may be a TM engine bay

ok the carby is TM
on my TN and TP EFI the radiator hose are both as in the picture

the bend nearest the radiator not the thermostat housing

The TR 4 cyl hose is different again
