My front wheel flare in the VRX - body kit above the wheels was repaired as part of an insurance claim. The shop where the repairs were done said that they no longer made the wheel flare.

The quality of the work is poor. They wheel flare has been repaired and looks brand new However the seal that goes along the thing is out and there is a bit of a gap where the flare joins the front bar.

The bottom par of the front part is not connected properly in the middle.


Is it true that they no longer make the wheel flare ?

What are my options ?

I can't possibly believe that they couldn't find a VR-X wheel arch flare. Local manufacturers are required to keep stock of parts for 10 years from the date of manufacture, which is still 2011 if your VR-X was built in 2001.

Ring up a Mitsubishi spares place, and give them your VIN and ask for a price for a Wheel Arch Flare, Front.

What sort of damage had to be repaired?

The damage was not that bad. the car that hit me was coming at low speed. But the fromt bumper, headlights, front right hand side panel, were replaced. The flare was broken in two pieces !

If they are not making the wheel flares what can be done. i don't have a camera otherwise i would have posted pics.

Any suggestions

find a friend with a vrx and mould one off of theirs.

mitsu sell the rubber seel seperate so that can be redone. might have to take the flare off and re-align it might help.

they didnt look hard enough they are ahead it will just require a few phonecalls, the fitting kit however is a different bag of nuts altogether getting one of those will be very tricky

Should I expect to pay for any of the materials myself ?

I already contacted my insurance and they will call me 2morrow. I will call them again to see what happens

no you shouldn't be paying for anything yourself

It's up to the panel shop to make sure you have everything back to how it should be

there is a good chance the panel shop charged your insurance company the same if not more than the price of the flares from Mitsubishi

but ur insurance company will work it out tomorrow :cool:
