if the light comes on , stays on longer than it should when starting etc, that means there is a problem in the SRS.

have to take it to a mechanic or mitsu to get it looked at.

ur car will still drive, but chances are, now its telling you it has faults in the system chances of an accident where the airbags would need to be deployed just jumped 2000000%!
kidding

but you know what i mean, get it looked at asap.

could be as simple as a loose connector somewhere, or something more sinister. (read expensive)

if u hav airbags in your front seats check the connections. same thing was happening to me took it to mitsu and they just adjusted the cable under the seat and all is fine, apparently the cables are very easy to knock around.

turns out the one in the passenger seat is faulty and not covered under my used car warranty
new airbag will cost $317 + 2 hours labour time...... whoo :doubt:

mines been on all this week, when I went to the service dept, they said to check the connections under the seat. so let you know once I have done that, maybe tomorrow. Also said it might need resetting after.

if you have electric drivers seat (maybe manual too), the cabling under the drivers seat can get lose depending on the positioning of the seat, or if you go round a corner too fast it can set the light off. Try putting your hand under the drivers seat and wriggling the cables whilst lookin at your dash, you might be able to diagnose it yourself. For me it comes on every now and then, i just move my seat a little and it goes away. I assume a cable is lose connecting to the airbag in the side of my seat. I've given them all a good push and tug and it hasn't come on for ages.

Keep in mind that this makes the car technically "unroadworthy"...

The cables to the seat mounted side airbags don't keep contact properly, hence why jiggling them makes the light go out. Happened every few weeks on the passenger side of my TL, only ever once on the drivers.

I have this problem intermittently usually caused by a water bottle or something else under one of the front seats knocking the poorly secured connector to the side air bags. I remove offending item, restart car, problem solved. Hasn't happened for months now. Got Mitsubishi to do a diagonsitic when it was in for it's transmission service last month and no fault codes detected. Wanted to check this and a suspected O2 sensor but everything was clear.

Generally in the TL / TW's it is the wires under the seats and something knocking them that makes the SRS light come on. If this is not the cause get it checked out at Mitsubishi or a qualified mechanic ASAP.

OK, have had my SRS light on for a day, then it went out. 2001 TJ, so no side airbags to worry about. But I have changed to a leather VRX steering wheel, but that was ages ago and never had an issue until yesterday.

Is there connectors under the dash to look at? I assume I don't have any connectors under my seats.

Cheers, Greg.

Just switched over steering wheels on Dad's TF (for a second hand Mitsu wheel, one without a delaminating wheel grip), swapped over the horn, cruise and airbag. Now the SRS light is staying on.

I followed the disabling procedure in the Gregorys manual.

The connector to the airbag is in place and its safety clips are engaged, as is the red wiring connector under the dash.

I couldn't see an "SRS" fuse (though I checked the one with a picture of a steering wheel on it).

Any suggestions? If not I'll have it looked at next week.

Solved.

On Dad's suggestion I took it for a test drive without the airbag to ensure the wheel was aligned right.

Damn. Off to the mechanic's next week.
