how much pressure should there be if i disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter mounted on the tank? not sure if fuel pump is working and dont want to pull it out of the petrol tank if i don't need too. tf 3.0 wagon.

I would be taking a pressure measurement from the rail - its easier to get off than the filter. Pressure is only 3 bar (45psi) when restricted, when not (free flow) bugger all.

a liitle confused by your answer, i can get under the car at rear and disconnect fuel line without to much trouble, with the ignition on there is no more flow than if i were syphoning it out of the tank, my understanding is that the feul pump is in the tank and pressure should be back there??????
am i confused or misinformed???????
thank you.

No, if you disconnect the fiter all you will measure if flow, not pressure.

To get a pressure reading, you have to tap into the fuel line with it all connected, fuel pressure guages hae the facility to do this, and measure prior to the fuel pressure reg

your pump won't run without the engine turning over either.

It will if you ask it nicely or you simply use the fuel pump test plug
