Hi Guys,

I'm only 1 part away from finishing my manual conversion, and am having the worst time trying to source the drivers side CV shaft from a third gen manual to fit my TF. I only need the intermediate half shaft.

Can anyone help?? Doesn't matter where you are, i'll pay the postage if you can find one at your local wreckers for me, or know of one lying around somewhere....

I need my car back on the road by sunday, and can't find one anywhere :(

Any help much appreciated!
Cheers,
Bonnie

I'm pretty sure the manual shafts are different in terms of spline count.

Spline is the same, just different length. The manuals are shorter by about 4mm. Cheers anyway.

contact driveline services, im positive they do regular customers with no accounts there, just ask them for what your after and they should be able to help ya.

unfortunatly these are a part that are non-servicable. for those that don't know, this means they don't wear out and are not made aftermarket. basically unless you get one from a wreckers or a leftover from a driveline shop you aint gettin one. i've tried a few places myself and it is getting a bit annoying because as bonnie said it's the only thing stopping us from getting the 71TSS on the road.

if anyone anywhere hears of one around, even if we have to buy the whole shaft (not many people know how to take them apart) then please PM either myself or bonnie.

No go with driveline, they only sell the cv shafts themselves, not the extension shaft that goes into the gearbox.

Still not having any luck, if anyone can find me one, i'll offer the cost, the postage to Mount Isa and a $50 finders fee.

Thanks,
Bonnie

Hey whats the go with the different shaft for a manual. AFAIK most have converted without changing shafts. The shorter shafts on manuals are for those that have LSD....or are you doing that too?

It just doesn't fit. Feels like it's hitting on something apparently (have to ask Ben exactly what, he's doing most of the work...) due to it being longer. No LSD here, but having a mother of a time getting it back on the road.

Sure have... still searching. Looking at the option of getting the shaft machined down to fit at the moment.

I'll have a poke around the wreckers here when I go there this week sometime.

Already looked at these, but unfortunately it's not the cv shaft i need. the intermediate shaft that runs from the gearbox to the cv shaft. Thanks. Have one back from machining, will see how i go tonight...

Okay the verdict is- it fits!! So for any one wanting to do a manual converson on a te/tf in the near future, the intermediate shaft is 4mm too long in the auto, and either needs to be replaced or machined down 4mm all round to fit.

Thanks for the offers of help :) Will post once i have everything back on, and it's on the road again...

ok guys a more technical explination of what needed to be done. the shaft, as bonnie said, was exactly 4mm to long. We ended up getting it machined down on a lathe. the machine mork that had to be done was on the gearbox end and basically had to move the entire end of the shaft in and hey presto it fits.

the is still enough meat on the shaft to fit the dust cap on that covers the seal in the gearbox. will put a diagram up later for those of you that don't understand my stupid talk.
