a couple of weeks ago i went to the willunga lions auction and picked up this stainless tube and a pod for $5.
went to autobarn picked up a MAF adaptor and some silicon joiners which came to $35.
this morning i fitted it all. the hardest part was making the hole behind the battery.
dont seem to notice much improvement yet but here in adelaide its been sticking hot, 40 degrees. so maybe when its cooler i may see some improvements.

You will definitely notice it more when you're driving on a cooler night. Looks like a neat job :).

yeah so do i because the little chrome button in the middle has been known to come off and get sucked up into the intake. I know this because a bloke attempted to do a 8k claim on a VC commodore :bowrofl:

Dont mean to offend, or put you down.. but i cant imagine the car runs nicely any more.. is it rougher?
I dont like the look of that setup at either end of the MAF sensor.. looks dodgy to me, sorry. :(
Good bye fuel economy.
EDIT: just noticed you're on lpg.. i have a feeling you're gonna get wierd overfuelling issues.. which is a big no-no on lpg. You'll backfire and blow the guts of your MAF, and that pod onto the road. Just be cautious.

Have you SCREWED that intake pipe onto the MAF?!?!

The whole thing is "screwed" or "screwy" so to speak... :P

the car still idles fine. as for the lpg side of things ill be adjusting the mixtures at work tommorrow as thats what i do that does.
NOTE: rich gas mixtures 9 times out of 10 doesnt cause backfiring. its either to lean or fault in the ignition system.

True.. but if it overfuelled during a backfire the results could be catastrophic.
Remove that adapter plate, in favour of one that allows full face air flow to the front of the MAF... theres oval ones made particularly for the mitsu MAFs. If that seal at the back of the MAF (from maf to intake pipe) is not completely air tight (which i'm fairly sure yours isnt), it'll run lean under throttle, as air is bypassing the MAF.
In the end, its your car.. your decisions. Just make sure everything is ship shape for your sake mate. :)

cheers for the concern. its sealed pretty good but ive got a couple of spare maf sensors lying around so if 1 fails ill just throw another on. also if i find a problem ill fix it. the reason i didnt use an oval to round adaptor was the only ones i could find werent the correct sizes. i tried a phew places but nudda.

No worries.. good luck with it. Hopefully you'll see some gains. :)
