It scares the crap out of me cause it happens at random and always at the worst time i.e. 4am sunday.

My keyring hasn't worked for a long time and I use the key to lock and unlock my car, which I thought was fair enuf. But every now and then the alarm will go off when I unlock it. Happened twice in a row today! Recently I had a total power failure and the battery was replaced and this alarm thing was happening a few months before the battery died. Don't see it being related thou.

I've put new batteries in the 2x keyrings, I've reprogrammed them countless times but they just wont work.

Can anyone shed some light on this nonsense please!

I've had this problem too.

Soon after I'd bought my car I got a new remote from Mitsu, which worked great for about 18 months ...

One day I came home, locked the car and went inside - 5 minutes later the alarm went off, so I went out to see what was going on. It shut up when I pressed the green button but almost as soon as I locked the car (with key or remote) it went off again. Got into the car and noticed that the door open beeper was going ballistic (), so I took the battery out of the remote, put it in the original remote and everything returned to normal. I bought a new one and haven't had the problem since... but I thought it was just me!

I'd suggest removing the batteries from both remotes - if the alarm is quiet all week try programming a new (or known good) remote.

The thing that can cause these issues is the actual switch in the lock that deactivates the alarm doesn't work intermittently, and you open the door, it opens the pinswitch, but doesn't disarm the alarm - off it goes.

Try using the passenger side door lock, its probably less worn.

Remotes are cheap, about $36 from MMAL parts.

did you find your lights flashed fast when you locked your car with remote prior to needing to replace battery? I was told that was an indication of poor range from remote due to low battery?
