Hi All
I am pissed off, I've spent 2 months rebuilding nearly everything on the KR verada for the girlfriend. So I submit it for roadworthy and it fails, a few simple things I missed
One disc .2 of a mm undersize
"d" shackle stabiliser arm bushes
"link arms" (the funny double tie rod things connecting the stabiliser to the control arms)
A couple of minor leaks
Dust in a the rear taillight clear lens
So those I can handle but I changed both of the front lower control arm bushes on both arms for brand new nolathanes and they tell me the front one's can't be right for the car because they move during the pinch bar test?????????????????????????????????
They showed me the so called problem, the nolathanes are changing shape and squishing under the force of the pinch bar.
Am I missing something here, there new and correctly fitted for crying out loud, what are they on about??

double check the prodcut code for the bushes with the manufacturer, and make sure the bolts are correctly torqued, if they are the correct code, hit the manufacturer up as to why theirs failed, or take the evidence to the DOT, bit of stuffing around but you shouldnt have to do it tqice, especially since you did it 'right' the first time.
what are the price on nolathanes compared to polys? Ive got polys, they can be fit easier, and no pressing is required.

I think they were about $70 kit from repco, they are like what you're suggesting, you don't have to press them in, there are two red bush pieces one on each side they fit neatly in the arm and a steel pin that you grease and insert. I have double checked with repco, they are the list device for the car.

"link arms" (the funny double tie rod things connecting the stabiliser to the control arms)

Yeah the other things I accept and the dust I cleaned out so that should be fine, the weekends work is cut out to source the other stuff and fit.
And yeah there are plenty of others, I'm thinking about going to one, I will if it is a problem but they haven't charged me yet so i'll fix the rest minus the "nolathanes". They obvously knew I was going to be funny about the bushes because they're saying quote "we might get a second opinion on that from another roadworthy shop"

Hmm interesting, did you notice the difference in noises or driving feel after you changed the bushes? Ive got my car booked in for new suspension, and have said they will change any bushes required, however I got a feeling that will be nothing, and I get the impression there is a bit of slack in the steering, and the front suspension can be a bit noisy, did you have these symptoms before?
Also, what is the difference between nothalene and polythane or whatever it is??

Yeah I'm amazed at it, I have two other old cars and neither of them was subjected to this nazi job.

No I don't really know what it was like before, I bought the car no reg no rwc blown headgasket and have spent the last two months rebuilding it all to register. However as far as slack in the steering goes its the opposite of that, very direct infact.
