hey guys ive got a major probem with my TE ive got white smoke coming off the rocker cover and checked under the oil cap, the same thing its smoking up pretty bad, my oil and coolant levels are fine and its not overheating.
its starting to worry me and want to see whether anybody knows what this problem could be as i just got the car to a point where im happy with it and now things screw up for me if its serious enough im gonna contemplate getting rid of it if its to expensive

is it the original cover or have you bought a chrome/painted one from ebay?

nope its original the smoke is coming from the inside of the engine and white smoke going everywhere ive been told by a mate that it could be the heads rooted.

fair call.... gasket ok?

Sounds like head gasket or cracked head. Get it checked ASAP..

no it wont catch fire, itl just become a pig to drive if it gets any worse.

white smoke = steam / water
from the oil filler, then thats a sure sign of a head gasket on its way out.
get it done ASAP before it fully lets go, thats when it gets more expensive when there is more cleaning / repair involved...

depends on how much damage is done, cracked warped heads usually 1k or so or just a gasket a couple of hundred.

A running motor from a wreck will cost you sfa. Don't panic. The gasket and labour are the $ pain. Got tools, a bbq, beer and mechanically minded friends/family?

I can buy a running 3.5l long for $600 without shopping around too hard.

i hope its only the gasket as its only started steaming on saturday but it drives normally so i dont think it has done to much damage
