Ive done a search and nothing has come up. I was going to weight my rims, but, am not sure how heavy the tire is.

So does anyone know how heavy a stock TJ sports rim is (same rims a series 1 TJ VRX) They are 16inch rims, 7inchs wide.

Im considering selling my 20s, and going a set of light weight 18s, but, weights are meaningless unless I know what the stock rim weight is.

Rob I weighed them quite a while ago..now 10.5kg rings a bell, but I'm not 100% on this.

Cheers Andy. Ill assume thats without the tyre.

Any suggestions on some lightweight rims to get ? I was looking at the speedy lite-5 in black. Weigh in on the low side of 8kgs. It was either 8.3 or 8.5, cant excatly remember.

Also got a price on some Work wheels. Around 2g just for rims, and weigh in at 10kg :S

I have just bought a new set of 20 inch wheels for my ralliart and cannot get over how light they are compared to my last set of 20s. They weigh in at around 13kg without tyre opposed to around 20kg for my last set so im a happy camper .....cheers brett:cool:

yep, no tyre.

Honestly, you probably won't notice much if any tangible difference going from factory 16's to lightweight 18's. Going to cheap heavy 18's would probably be a difference story, so yep if you wanto go to 18's without losing performance/handling, lighter ones are the way to go.

I doubt you'd notice the difference between 8.5 and 10kg - though too much more than 10kg and you will start to feel the difference.

You don't need to spend big $$$ to get decent rims, shop around for second-hand rims on other car forums, even jap importers selling second-hand jap rims.

E.g I payed $600 for my SSR type-C knockoffs, second-hand off forums (OCAU). They weigh 8.5kg, and unlike most replica rims, seem to be quite well made.
