Hi guys,
was thinking of removing the unichip from my car before selling it. Is it just a matter of unplugging it or does it have to be professionally removed? Does the the ecu revert back to normal once removed? Ie. can i go back to using 91ron?
Cheers

The unichip is a piggyback/interceptor computer and does not make any permanent changes to the Stock-ECU. Just make sure that when you unplug the unichip, you reconnect the original wires up properly.

An intercepter usually intercepts signals - that is, there will be wires cut and the unit will be spliced into the harness. Most likely at least the crank angle sensor wire will be cut, maybe injectors, depends on how its been installed.
If you unplug it, chances are your car wont start. Best clues as to what wires have been spliced into is to have a look at the colours.

Heath, CAS is paired off, as it is a digital signal and can be. The analogue ones such a WT, IAT and the likes are cut and then emulated out. Injector control is ofter cut away from the stocko some times, same with ignition out to the ignitor.

Ah OK. CAS was an intercept on the sprintex ecu.

cool thanks for the info. So for a complete autoelectrics noob like myself, would you suggest getting someone in the know to do it? Or is it just a matter of twisting the same colour wires together?

it should be 4 wires that need joining. you need to follow the wires to the ecu loom under your dash and find which ones join to a wire of the same colour. Once you join them thats it, car should run.

hey guys... I got quoted $50 to have the unichip removed by the people that installed it. Does this sound reasonable do you think?

Yeah ok price, they installed it and they will know how to put it back to stock. If you have any problems down the track then they will have to fix it for you instead of you going OMFG WTF have i done haha.
