I was looking at a car the other day for my girl friend, it was an '85 929 mazda for those playing at home, anyway it had an interesting featue, you could control the stiffnes of the suspension.
Now after some research I found out that there are after market kits to control this suspension, but I cant find out exactly what this suspension is called, does anybody know?

it sounds like an electronic damper adjust. probably not what they call it from factory, but yeah, thats what it looks like by your description

so i guess you would call them adjustable dampners then?
Most high spec jap cars from that era had them.
Mazda 626, 929,... I think KR Verada Xi,

i had a 83 liftback carb 626 a few years (they are GREAT CARS - i would get another actually in the future if i found a nice example)
and it had the buttony thing for the suspension too
over about 80km/hr it switches over to the 'sports' (i think thats what it was called) mode automatically.
it made a noticable difference to the way the car felt on the road, but nothing huge really.
i have no idea how it did its thing, but it did it
(loved that car, freezing aircon, cheap to run as well - only thing was the clutch had been replaced and it was VERY heavy, but that wasnt really a drama)

I got a ASpec Galant GSR that has electric system, well actually its air, but it has height and stiffness adjustibility through the dash control unit.
it sucks.
also when i lived in NZ, my E84A Galant VR4 V6 TT had electronic damper adjust, had two settings, sport and touring.
it sucked as well.
great for novelty factor but junk everywhere else.
if your thinking aftermarket electronic damper adjustible, TEINS do a control unit for their suspension.
