yeah i think a little bit of red in the interior would look nice, i see a fair few Evoke grey Pontiac G8's around work with the black/red combo interior and it works very well.

only issue i'd have is the interior lighting, 380's are blue arent they? being LED's would make swapping the colour interesting but i'm sure if it was done by a pro they'd know what they were doing.

What about white double stiching?

that way when the lights come on it goes blue....:D

What color is the car
Storm grey by looking at his profile. Have you thought of a lighter grey colour for the stitching? Not really light, just a few shades lighter than the black. That would look pretty classy me thinks.

silver coloured stitching (dark-mid NOT chrome/shiny) that way it ties in with the body colour

piping is like a pipe that surrounds the seats it only suits hot rods in my opinion mate ,but yours are going to like factory so i am looking forward to pics mate

yep installing them myself but i wish i wasn't lol they were made up by blackman & sons.

didnt realise it was so hard, esp getting a good finish. busted a heap of plastic trim bits too :(

but since seeing the TMR 380 kinda wishing i went with red perforated inserts
I think you've done a great job, it looks unreal!!! IMO, red inserts would have been over the top, that red stitching is subtle and looks classy. I have factory leather in mine & the only difference appears to be be where yours has red stitching, I have light grey.

Nice!!! So they are making up leather seat covers for you and you are installing them?
What sort of cost did they hit you for?

How did the new covers fit around the side airbags? A big job or a minor annoyance? My 2006 VRX has the full leather package but I like the perforations on your install.

I find that I need to treat the leather regularly or it starts to look grey instead of black. I currently use the ArmorAll Leather Treatment but saw some UK produced cream the other day at Hunter Holden in Sydney (now also Northside Mitsubishi). I might try this as it recommends a twice yearly treatment only. Anyone else have any recommendations? Does your supplier have a recommended care package/solution? Cheers...

i wont comment on armorall.. but personally (and a lot of people will back me up on the forum mentioned below) i think armorall (whatever the product) is absolute rubbish.. i mean dont get me wrong, its ok to the average joe blow that thinks coles sell good car care products, but for people who actually care about what the product is meant to do and how well it does it then armorall... no, sorry.. thats all i will say on that matter..

www.detailaddiction.com.au/forums

buy their lexol leather cleaner and Zaino Z10 Leather Conditioner from Final inspection..

You will soon wonder why you EVER bothered with any other brands..

But before you use anything different - id be cleaning your leather seats very very well to get the armorall off give it a good clean with the lexol then do a few (thin) applications of Z10 over the course of a couple of days..

Leather shouldnt look wet/shiny/darker than normal because honestly... how many shiny cows do you see in the paddocks? The conditioner should be totally absorbed by the leather (this will in turn make the leather feel hydrated and supple) and should not make it look darker/shinier once it has totally soaked in (usually within 24 hours)..

after using a good leather cleaner and conditioner it shouldnt look like youve put anything on your seats at all really.. immediately after application it will appear darker and shinier but that will fade as the product is absorbed by the leather..

also, the leather in the 380s (VRX, GT etc) isnt actually black, its a very dark grey.. so its supposed to look like that..

edit* you can probably tell i dont like shiny leather seats.. they should look natural and naturally, MOST leather (especially automotove leather) doesnt shine..

also, i cant stand the use of armorall etc on dashes.. makes the car look cheap and tacky IMO..

edit** the lexol cleaner and Z10 conditioner arent expensive either.. you definately get what you pay for (each product is >$30) and they last a long time.. a little goes a long way..

The brand I use on my leather is Mothers. It was recommended by a friend and I am happy with the results. Costs about $20 and 1 bottle does about 2 coats of front & rear seats.

holy heck you must use a lot..

its the mothers leather conditioner in the red bottle yeah?

i use that on vehicles that i detail for others because it is good value and has a strong smell to it that they usually like..

but i can do like 10 cars out of a bottle..

20c amount on a foam applicator should do the vast majority of one whole seat..

Yeah, its the one in the red bottle, smells nice but obviously I am using way too much. Thanks for the tip, I will start making it go a bit further.

foam applicator pads (the yellow round meguiars ones) work best i find to apply it - using terry towels etc tend to soak up too much of the product which is wasted..

you can also apply it with your bare hands as it will ALL go onto the seats and not soak into your applicator that you're using..

but i find foam best for giving thin,e ven coverage..

as with most things, applying thin coats more frequently is better than just dumping a whole lot on there in one go..

Thowe not may agree with me I really like the champange leather in my 380. If the car is dark blue, purple or grey it works really well.

...but the best product i fould was autoglym which is factory approved for jaguar, maclaren and aston martin!

Yep,

Couldn't remember the name but autoglym was the stuff that they had at Northside/Hunter. They had the whole range of products from cleaners to polishes. It's one of the most comprehensive I've seen. Also, they're not covered in shiny adverts just no nonsense packaging with a good product description. I'll try their leather treatment and see how it goes. Cheers...

looks fantastic - much better than the factory leather..

not many cars these days come with a good quality factory job as most of it is vinyl that blind freddy has colour matched..

and i wouldnt bother with the heat/shrinking it.. i reckon it looks perfect as it is - i prefer the look of it when there is some slack and slight gathering..

yeah might leave it as it is cause is very soft, anyway if i leave it in the sun it should happen anyway. just have to do the door trims when i get a chance.

and tufftr, (for some1 doing a 6G72 build lol) its not as expensive as it looks

6G74 Build!
I got quoted $300 just to FIX the side of one of my seats so i dont think im game enough to find out how much a WHOLE retrim would cost
