Hey Guys,
As some of you may know I have a gorgeous black 380VRX.

However one thing I have noticed, as I am sure many of you have too is that they seem to throw stones and other assorted goodness off the front tyre onto the paintwork along the side of the car but mainly to the bottom corner of the rear door.

Now I know Mitsubishi have a plastic bit that you can stick over it to protect the paint on the rear door. . . But what about the side??

Are stupid mud flaps the only option? If so, does anyone have them and do they look HOW bad??

Thanks guys,
Paul

Hi. I have a black 380 too. They're a bitch to keep clean and shiney, I know.
I have seen the mud flaps/guard on some 380s but they look very small and useless to me (ie they only go down about 1 inch from the car body). My previous Magna had much larger standard mud guards - which I fitted for this very reason (though they scraped on driveways due to the car being dropped 2 inches).
The plastic strip/panel you mention, does it fit over the sill alongside the bottom of both doors? I haven't seen anything like that.
PS Add a pic of your car to your profile page.

I have the mudflaps front and rear and have never had and stone damage to the sides of my VRX whilst driving on dirt roads. There are after market clear protective sheets. Try this site:

They have a product called Skinz which can be applied to the sill area. Cheers...

ive got mud flaps front and back as well, even though they arn't very deep they do protect the sides of the car and the edge of the bumper from rocks.

That looks alright. Wonder if this can be applied to the first 10-20cm from the bonnet leading edge.
I do a lot of hwy km and have been suffering small stone chips.

Hi Knotched,

My son worked for these guys until he followed his girlfriend to the UK last year. He said they had tested this on several areas of cars and all were very good in preventing stone damage. He noted that if you need to trim to fit use a very sharp Xacto knife or scalpel to get the best cut with a clean edge before application.

I had the headlight skinz on my previous Verada as the acrylic head light protectors could not be fitted with the US car bra I had on it (the fitting tabs went in the same location as the head light protector mounting tabs at the base of the light assembly). My 380 VRX car bra (modified US Galant) has the bonnet section separate, which can be fitted on its own for short trips and prevents stone ships. Takes 2 minutes to fit. Cheers...

WTF???? I paid 100 for the complete set of 4 genuine mitsu.

they do need a bit of work to fit though the rear wheels need to come off and theres a bit of plastic that needs to be cut and a few holes drilled in the plastic.
