sooo... ive been having a few problems with my car of recent times..
i have a auto 3L and although ive had a 3.5engine put into it, and a new gear box and my ohter one stuffed up, and mods i got are, rpw intake, and oval pod, rpw race extractors, and full exhaust(although pretty sure my cat hasnt been changed)
the problem has been happening since about then!
so anyways what happens is that at about 5000rpm thier is this bad sound, i cant really explain what it is, but i guess it kinda like sounds like a back fire kinda thing? sounds like comming outta the underside of the left hand side, about where the mirror is..
ALso it wont change the gear, it will just sit at 5Krpm for a while and then change gear back down..
Its prettty annoying, as i miss out on like a 1000rpm, and the sounds just **** me!
so anyone got any idea?
my mechanic thinks the only thing is something to do with my exhaust being too big, although its only 2.5 and i dont know how that would effect it and make the sound and whatever?
the only things that i can think is im still using the 3L ecu, and dont know if that would effect it much?
or when i got a new gear box something is screwed up with it?
although im really not sure! so anyone any ideaS?

You said that you're running the 3L ECU with the 3.5L motor???

Theres your problem dude....

Try to borrow/buy the correct one... (Pick and payless have heaps of 3.5's in their lot..)

Make sure all the connectors are there and you've plugged them all in....
If unsure.. take some hi resolution pictures of the engine bay of a good 3.5 and copy that.
Photos help in almost every situation...

I'm quite sure the ecu for the 3.0 and the 3.5 run very different mapping programs.

yeh change the ecu. you may have been running too lean for too long after putting on the plenum with out enough fuel or even geta piggyback??

actually that is anoying

all the computer stuff should have be fixed before you picked up the car
from whoever did the work

If possible take the car back and list the problems
see what they suggest
