Anything from slow throttle response to periodically cutting out during acceleration, and running rich (sooty bumper around the tale pipe).

i believe you would be getting less pressure, you may also recieve a fluctuation in pressure, not 100% sure.

my magna is a 3.0 v6, is the 3.5 regulator compatable with the 3.0????

i am going through a process of elimanation trying to sort out whats wrong, when i first start the car, regardless of wether the engine is hot or cold, it runs like crap for the first 5 or so minutes, there is a flat spot where the car just hesitates but doesn't stall regardless of speed, then it just cuts in and takes off, runs fine after a few k's ,
have had injectors done, replaced fuel filter, had the pick up in the tank cleaned, replaced pcv valve, all new plugs, have cleaned trottle intake and all air/vacuum hoses runiing into it, have removed and cleaned fuel pressure reg and this made a difference but didn't fix the problem, thought i might replace it next.
any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

fuel leaking from the regulator itself, or the smell of fuel after the car has been idling too long (the former indicates a faulty unit, the later indicates you are running too much fuel pressure at idle).

Instead of just cleaning parts out you might have to start replacing bits and go from there.
Have you hit up a mechanic yet?

i started at the mechanics, he thought getting the injectors done would fix the problem, this made no difference, he would have it for a couple of days at i time , he thought it may have been the pick up in the tank ,which we pulled out and cleaned and put back , replaced fuel filter and etc, was costing me too much to keep leaving with him, thought i might have a go myself, which is where i'm at now.

The problem is its a matter of finding the issue and can cost some money when its someone elses time.. If your anywhere near Sylvania in Sydney would be more than happy to try the fuel pressure reg if you want. see if it makes a differance.. if not u tried.. if yes you may purchase..:)

They are the same (where on my 3.0 and 3.5 I had). Exactly what problems are you experiencing?

Why not take the guess work out of it and put a fuel pressure gauge on to see if the pressure is ok?
