hey all,

i have a jvc head deck (few years old) in my feroza. anyway, set it all up and its alright but when it gets into a cd (about 6th song along and after that) it makes a real fuzzy sound and annoys the hell outta me. when i get a new cd it goes ok, but then when i put it in and listen to it a few times it starts doing it again. also has scratched the crap out of a few of my cds. so my question is; what do you think it is? is it easy to fix? or just throw it away and buy a new one?

EDIT: i have used cd head cleaning discs to no prevail...

I thought those CD cleaning discs were meant for CD ROM drives!?!?!?!?!
Unless they have a car audio one now?

Man i picked up a JVC KD BT1 for $199, *** bluetooth and 1800 color screen and stuff, *** insane! I'd just piff it and grab a new one!

could mean the lasers on its way out, or has something stuck on it
you can get it repaired but it might be cheaper to buy a new deck :confused:

lol i remember my old PS2 used to play a DVD pull the disc out and it was scratch as hell, try to play it on another DVD player and it wouldnt work!
turn out the laser was stuffed and put some deep scratches in the disc

cheers guys :D i suspected it was the laser...will have a look tomorrow for a new one with USB compatibilities :P and tuffy i thought the same thing, until i bought it from the dodge place that did the magnas stereo :P (was fading out a tad in the feroza, then got worse so id say that wouldnt help lol :P)

If its scratching your CDs, the lens calibration must be thrown off or the lens motor is malfunctioning, etc.
It might not be worth to get fixed so just toss it and get a new one.

quite possible too, considering its been in the pajero and feroza whilst they have been airborne on the sand dunes :P cheers :D

yeah new prices coming through again on wednesday on the old stock, i also recieved my new gear on friday its hot stuff cant wait to thrash it :P

yeah we just got out new stock in too, looks pretty swish but has mostly the same features as the old ones

For $199 i reckon its one of the best deals atm.
Only thing that ****s me is the USB thingy on a cord but the whole playing music from my phone thingy through the stereo via bluetooth blew me away :P the wonders of modern technology hey :P

USB on the cord is awesome dude, on mine (currently the AVX900) i've got the usb cable running around the back and in to my glove box, so i just keep my usb drive in there, i hate them poking out of the head unit, looks tacky imo.
I wanna run it around to the drives side and cut a little hole in the plastic around there and some how secure it near where my right knee is, around the key hole area... but i cbf.

wouldnt be too hard just cut a hole the same size wedge the usb plug into that hole, give the back of the unit a good hit with silicone or glue then its done.

got myself a nice mid range jvc deck, mid range with bluetooth, usb, 3 rca pre outs, sub control etc etc for $200, extra $42 for a 5 year replacement warranty! cant get much better. ended up getting the head deck for $6 above cost :D:D:D
