Hey all,

Sorry if this has been asked before - I did search but couldn't find anything useful...

I've just taken my 03 TJII Magna in for a safety certificate inspection, and they have called me saying that 2 engine mounts need replacing... Pretty sure he said front and rear - don't know how many engine mounts there are in the car all up... [EDIT] - Just called him back to check - its the back and right side mounts...

They quoted me $530 to replace them... Is this a fair price?? I'm selling the car, so don't want to spend a fortune on it... I called my local Mitsu dealer and they quoted $645...

Cheers guys

If you want the problem to go away cheaply find a different mechanic to get a cert and sell the car none the wiser. I'm sure there's a stack of people driving stock magnas around with buggered engine mounts and they wouldn't know the difference.

I'm so glad that I'm a Mitsi mechanic and dont have to pay those inflated prices. The markup on the parts is rediculous.

If I were you I would replace the RH side one(drivers side) as it will be split right through and will be noticeable. This one is easy to change so labour will be low.

The rear one will most likely just be starting to crack and wont cause any dramas. Try just doing the other one then trying another mechanic.
