View Full Version : removing fuel rail and injectors
Hi everyone.
What's the trick to removing the fuel rail and injectors from a TP. Got everything out of the way, and clips off, etc,. Spun the injectors around to try and break the seal. Now hard do I pull? I've tried pulling fairly hard, and don't want to go any harder, in case I break soemthing.

Slight lift and wiggle should do it.... lol

if you can find a supplier
when you use the stuff on the O rings
gives a good reliable seal
Slight lift and wiggle should do it.... lol
I've tried the wiggle and straight pull, will now try the slight lift, with a wiggle and pull.

don't forget to whisper sweet nothings to it so it's juuuuuuuust right. :D
Seriously, shouldn't need much force

the combination of Wiggle & Pull works the O rins loose from the ports.....HAHA and the whisper in its ear loosens the hole...haha

If you have undone the 2 bolts, fuel filter pipe off the rail and the fuel regulator
so no petrol or pressure is left in the pipe
I cant see any reason why the fuel rail wont budge
you can spin the injectors
If you put a lever or screwdriver in to assist
you run the risk of squashing the fuel rail
keep us posted
never had the problem myself

These can be buggers to get out sometimes, they will come.
You will also need to remove the bracket from the manifold to the TB to get it all out.
Try to pull inline with the injector and the injector hole, if you tilt the assy it can be harder to get out.
This is usually caused by hard "O" rings, get new ones and as buff said, get rubber grease when you install them
Okay thanks everyone, got em out, needed much more than a gentle wiggle to free em up. They've been in there since 1990, so understandable. After replacing the head gasket, it wasn't firing on number 4 - there was plenty of spark, good compression (170-180 on all 4), injector had right voltages as described in book, checked all the connections over and over, so figured it must be blocked injector. Took em all out, attached a hose to a hand pump, put some turps in the hose, connected it to an injector, connected 12 volts to the injector then pumped the turps through. :D
Hey I know its a bit rough, but it worked. Put it all back together, and its firing on all 4 again. I'm not looking for high performance, just want to get it running. I'll get to all the fine details, once I know all the major jobs are holding up. Now its not idling smoothly, and the timing mark is wandering a bit, seems to be the corrosion on the 4 pin distribitor connector, if you give it a jiggle the timing mark changes.
