Like the common reaction to a good looking woman, it only gets harder.

I disagree. My old man has a VE SS, and until recently had the stock suspension setup. He upgraded the shocks to some flashy Konis, but kept the stock springs (as they were quite soft). Both him and I have noticed that the front sat a tad higher and the back a tad lower - which was quite pleasant, since it 'evened out' the height of it.
I don't have a technical explanation for it, but I saw it with my own eyes...

Did you change ur springs and shocks at the same time? I would have thought springs would make a BIGGER difference to comfort. My car is booked in for wednesday to get soem KYB's and King lows, hopefully with the lows it isnt too hard riding

King Lows + KYB Excel-G's are a very nice ride for the TR.

Struts will always push towards fully extended, so if they have a stronger recoil they could adjust the ride height fractionally.
When i got my first magna (TS) it had kings lows and stuffed standard shocks with no bump stops.
got some KYBs put in and the car did sit a bit higher but handled alot better. so i think it depends on the condition of the shock you are replacing. my were shot, so they sat low, new shocks were much better so they were able to support the car a bit better
