hey guys,

My mate just bought a TJ2 Exec and is trying to put a new H/U into it. He's called me to ask me to ask you what three wires are.

Green/White
Black/Yellow
and a separate, thin, solid blue wire.

thanks in advance,
-ian

pretty sure you dont need those wires
just match up the wires on the pdf to how they come out on the actual harness on the car
solid blue wire is for the power antennar (thats if he has one)

Does he know how to use a multimeter?

Green/White = Illumination (Dash lights. Normally used to dim the HU)
Black/Yellow = Dimmer (Rheostat)
and a separate, thin, solid blue wire. = should be accessory/ignition power, otherwise will be radio mute for when a phone connector is plugged in, hence not needed.

Thanks for that M4DDOG.

He's noticed another probem however, the dimmer switch doesnt work anymore after we cut the wire connection last night. He tells me that the dash lights are unblievably dim.

Thats the result of not having the dimmer wired up to the headunit. I personally didn't have such a problem even before I wired my dimmer up, but I've heard of many cases where the brightness controls for the instrument cluster don't function because the circuit is broken where it doesn't connect to the headunit.

Wire the dimmer control into the deck and it should all run fine.
