Does anyone know if the check engine light (or any other light in the instrument panel) comes on or flashes on when a diagnostic tool is plugged into the diagnostic port under the dash of a 3rd Gen Magna/Verada?

are the flashes long and short (sort of like morse code )
just a quess
for example 15 may be 10 flashes and 5 flashers
..................31 3 flashes and 1 flash
sometimes the ten units come first then the single digit
then read the diagnostic number that matches the diagnostic chart
to find th fault

I don't actually have a fault with my car. The check engine light isn't actually on. What i was wondering was whether the check engine light comes on or flashes when a diagnostic tool is actually plugged into the diagnostic port?
i thought you just hooked up an led/speaker to two of the pins to pull the codes, i'm probably wrong though.

From my understanding the device you plug into the diagnostic port flashes, such as an LED Pen or Probe, but the check engine light doesn't illuminate at all.

When the MUT is connected a few lights flash on the instrument cluster. Engine light and I think the N on the auto gears. Dont qoute me on that though but something definitely comes on.
