Anyone got a pic of the cam to dizzy arrangement. I couldn't be stuffed pulling my airbox off again this month :doubt:

Why do I want the pic? Because.

Ok, I'm investigating ALL methods of getting a pulley drive to the air box side of the motor to support a supercharger. In a perfect world I will complete one kit and supply the duplicated ancillaries to other interested members who would be free to choose their own engine mmt, supercharger trim and pulley sizing etc. Since the dizzy is run off the rear cam, why not make a spacer with a pulley on it and shuffle the dizzy over a little. Does that sound correct or do I need to pull my airbox off in daylight and research it a bit more.

I've put a pic of what was buzzing around in my head, in the earlier post. Lucky to hear the buzzing over the voices :shifty:

it would work like a charm. Run a toothed belt on a spaced shaft and put the dizzy in the end of the pully shaft. The only thing that may pose a problem is the coolant galleries. IIRC there is olne that bolts to the rear head right next to the dizzy.

I have a couple of 3.5's in the shed if you want to come and have a look Ian.

have a look at the way they do the top mounted supercharger on some of the holden ls1 motors .

been looking into this myself on the 2nd gens.
The cam pulley is in the pefect position to mount a 2nd pulley onto it running a fan via belt into induction piping. no pics on me atm unfortunately, but can be done relatively easy considering factory setup

from memory the 2.6 that ran the waterpump of the cam

what load does a supercharger draw?
is the timing belt strong enough? (2.6 motors ran a chain not belt)

cheers

Exactly, I'm also nervous about the meshing arrangement on the cam - i think it's only one tooth. Anyways I knew a few people had motors apart and I was just kicking the can around for ideas for the perfect SC install.

Prefer the Vortech V9 but isn't set in stone. The Bullet setup is less-than perfect for fmic, the Raptor arrangement is better suited to a fmic or a reverse orientation (and geared) rotrex would be good but it's not going to deliver the boost I need.

I'd really like to just buy the RIPP shaft with upgraded tensioner or the Raptor shaft and take it from there. If the Raptor cfm figures look alright then that might suffice. Just mindful of the Vortech reputation, availabilty of parts, high rpm etc. Those sorts of things help me sleep at night.
