g'day everyone.
ok i have a little issue that might not be so little and i need some help.
so here it is.
i was driving home the other night and all of a sudden my car just started to die.
it was all fine just driving normal then just started to lose power like i had just taken my foot off the accelerator. i pulled over, turned the car off, turned it back on and it was fine then drove home.
the car is an auto 1992 TR magna that has been converted to LPG and when my brother in law owned it, apparently it had this same issue.
any ideas at all?
thanks in advance

If the weather was cold, the gas probably froze.
Make sure the car has a thermostat, so that the motor runs at the right Temperature
maybe get the battery charged up and run some unleaded through it! perhaps a new battery! Does it start? and will it go? I remember a situation I had where I ran over a kerb at 60k but the car still kept going until I had to head back to work I had to stop at the 1st intersection I got to and the car wouldn't move anywhere! not forwards or backwards! apparently I snapped something off the weak end of the driveshaft thats about the size of a 20c piece or less! It still went for a few days then suddenly decided to stop!

nah it wasn't overly cold and it had been running for a while. the thermostat works fine. sits just under half all day every day.
battery charge might have had something to do with it.
it is reluctant to start in the morning too. could it be a tuning problem?

do you have a multimeter to test the alternator with? I'd suggest that too! and some good quality fuel cleaner refer to http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57581&page=2
I'm gonna try the wurth brand myself!
Perhaps the cars due for a service!
other than that i don't know what else to suggest

at least your car slowly lost power. My old TR would just cut out at random times. Once I was coming over a crest with a round-a-bout on the other side. The engine just cut out, power-steering, power-brakes all gone.
What didn't cut was my Master of Puppetz blaring through the speakers so when I tried to turn left at the round-a-bout I suddenly felt what its like to be in a 1300kg billycart!!!! Luckily it was a new estate with lots of empty blocks of land.

JarRah - that would suck. yer i was slowing down cos there were some kids riding on the road and messin around then it just died. no warning at all. all other electrics were wroking fine. the amp, sub and all speakers were doing what they normally do. power steering/breaks were still workng too.
ash - honestly i cant say whether the fuel filter has been replaced. but whether it has been or not it shouldn't have made a difference as it runs on gas majority of the time. yes or no?
i know the ecu has been replaced as it packed it in one day on the expressway.
air filter, oil filter been done. i told the mechanic to do all the filters so one would think the fuel filter has been replaced or cleaned at least.
but then again i now regard this mechanic in particular crap. why? becuase he didnt even put my wheels back on properly. one was literally finger tight.
could it be something to do with the computer maybe?

check batttery condition volts and amps draw
ECU computers dont like working below 11 volts
check for spark
dissy module might be the problem or the pin connection to the diisy
dissy cap, rotor,coil, leads, plugs
Tps adjustment
fuel delivery if the car wont start again :doubt:
Go with what magna buff said! :)
