Got a series 2 TJ when i set the cruise control at say 100k car accelerate's about 3-4 kays then slow's back to 100k is this normal.

Have other cars with cruise and none of them would accelerate when setting the cruise.

Hmm...mine doesn't do that, not that I've noticed anyway. I wouldn't worry about it though, as long as the cruise sets to the speed you tell it to its not really an issue, just don't turn it on as you go past a speed camera :P

Yep mine does the same. I used to fit aftermarket cruise controls for a living and 99 out of 100 would also do this.

Yeah mine doesn't do that either.

And haven't you noticed, when you approach a speed camera you are supposed to do 10-20kms under the speed limit?

Thanks for the replies

the way i think of it, is the car is working out what it needs to do to maintain the speed you set it at - coz it has to 'think' about driving itself more now.. if you get what i mean.

mine doesnt do it at all, just smoothly picks up where it needs to be.

the cruise control is attached by a cable to the throttle body, so the mechanism (the bit that pulls the cable to maintain the speed you set) sometimes has to work out where it needs to position itself so to speak.
if that makes sence?

Yeah mine does this too, i think it's common in magnas. Doesn't do it in my parents ba falcon tho...

My TL also does this, its pretty annoying especially when adjusting the speed, ie. pushing the cruise stalk up or down to match your speed to the car in front on the highway. It completely lets go of the throttle when slowing and then gives it a very noticable kick when it reaches the set speed.

the altise we have is totally smooth, unnoticable. Haven't tried it on the old man's 380 yet tho.

edit: i'm thankful for my cruise control :) *karma*
