Hey guys I'm currently looking at a 2002 Magna Sportswagon woth 135000 on the clock, 5spd auto.
I test drove it yesterday I turned traction control off and when I was going around a corner at a set of traffic lights about 5mins into the drive when the light went green I put my foot on the accelerator to go the car reacted to go for a sec and then went dead the motor was still idleing and had plenty of fuel left but when I put my foot down there was no response I managed to get the car over on the side with it idleing in gear. I put it into neutral and back to drive no change, I turned it off and started it again and its back to normal except the Traction control light was flashing at me. anyhow I drove it back to the dealer and told him and they never had the issue come up but they are gonna check it out tomorrow and I'll call them back to see how they went, but I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and what had to get done to fix it?

I really like this car and am keen to buy it but not if this is gonna be a major issue and involve alot of messing around as I don't have time at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when my tractional control light was flashing, the vacuum hoses werent connected properly, dont know if this is your problem, just my 2c.

PM Gas_Hed im sure he had the same/similar problem with his xi turned out to be a bent EGR valve. Btw shotgun the sports if your selling it :P

Might go for a 2nd look on saturday, I spoke to one of the mitsu guys at work today and he thinks it maybe a faulty traction control unit or it just confused itself. I can get it hooked up to the computer to get it checked if i want to.

I'm not selling the Sports its gonna be getting some major work done over the next 6 months ready for newy autosalon. I need an auto wagon so i can go to the zigzag on weekends and so my gf can drive it as she can't drive the manual.
