Hi all. I am considering a manual conversion for my auto magna. Problem is, I have a 98 Tf sedan, with a 2000 TH 3.5 engine. Should I be chasing parts from a tf or th magna. Thinking of trying to get a whole wrecked car to get all the bits and pieces i need.
Thanks!

If you are going to manual you should chase the gearbox from a TH 3.5 if you can, apparently it is stronger according to a few reports from various websites.

Other bits such as shafts/pedals/cluster etc you can grab from any TE/TF/TH/TJ S1

Stronger and different 1st gear ratio, the 3.0 boxes have closer to 3.7:1 i think and the 3.5 box is 3.4:1, will make a difference with wheelspin off the line.

Will the 3:7:1 ratio result in more wheelspin or the 3:4:1? Don't fully understand ratio's.

Yeah, lower top speed in that gear, more torque to the ground, more wheelspin.

Right, so is that like, for every 3 revolutions there's seven? Wheel spins a bit annoying anyway, lots of not going anywhere. The stronger box sounds like the way to go though. Cheers.

3.7 : 1 (read, 3 point 7 to 1, decimal not comma yada yada..) means 3.7 engine revolutions for 1 wheel revolution. Think of it in terms of riding a mountain bike, put it in the lowest gear ratio and you pedal a lot to spin the wheel a little.

i put a 3.0l gear box in mine and it seems to be pretty good.. i feel it has enough wheelspin as it is:D i have a 2000 TH..

twas raining in newcastle today, we have a tj sports 5 spd, was setting off in 2nd in some spots, still wheel spins, and was setting off nice and slow. A few people have done 5spd 3.0 - 3.5 conversions without too much trouble.
