car is getting a respray tomorrow morning and the painters have given me some crazy ideas,
they suggested going two tone, by spraying the upper half of the car gloss black, which is everything above the edge that runs down the entire side of the car, just above the door handles. in theory its sounds good, and unique but im worried i wont like it, they also suggested GT stripes up the centre of the car, what do you guys think? i put a post in the Photoshop section. ive got a VRX bar and letterbox grill which is also going on, im leaning on just doing the respray, cant go wrong

Totally agree on this, 2 tone would look doddski, one unique colour and youve got a winner.

I rekon stay with the metallic green respray but go some matte black or white stripes, but not GT stripes, something more similar to the VE SS stripes (the only things i like visually about the VE :P) Like these ones; http://farm1.dealernet.com.au/stock/928F39E8A78347B49417192CD0B34220?c=80326

lowrider
04-04-2008, 10:08 PM
yeah i was thinking on the SS stripes, nice, the respray im not sure on the cost, getting it at mates rates so i will have too see after i get it done, mind u i did a lot of work, pulling the car apart, to keep their work load down.

i'm gonna say yes to 2-tone :D
especially seeing its a respray, not a vinyl overlay.
magna's have a very distinct line that can be followed down the side of the car, maybe add a pinstripe to separate the 2 colours too?
i did this photoshop a while ago for andrewd

i decided goin two tone with my stock metallic green for the lower part, as i love the green, and then i dont need to paint inside the door sils and engine bay. and gloss jet black for the top, with a pinstripe to seperate the the two, colours, now i need to decide on either green, letterbox grill and green eyelids, or all black
lenda

my opinion, i say black, make it look meaner.

This is a really smart idea and something totally different. I think the gloss black on green is way more sophisticated (Bugatti Veyron style) than the in ya face red/black idea. But definitely no stripes, that would totally bugger the clean , shap look you will get. I do think a stripe to separate the colours, but no sure what colour - probably a darker shade of the green.

i changed the jet black, to metalic pearl plack, which at certain angles in the sun you can see dark green in it. it is off the TJ veradas, with a bright silver pinstripe to devide the colours, its been painted, and im waiting on the trimmings to be done, when i put my car back together ill post some pics hopefully ill have it all done by sunday

"metalic pearl black, which at certain angles in the sun you can see dark green in it. it is off the TJ veradas"
Anyone know the paint colour code or whatever to get this exact shade?
I replaced my front grille with a black one from a TJ, and it has that awesome green fleck effect. It's perfect for my TF, which is the deep green that looks almost black in the shade.
Now, I need to replace my front bumper bar, and I'm thinking the same colour might be worth considering ('cos it'll match the grille).

Rory, you think red up front? I guess it would go well with the green. Maybe...
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/album.php?albumid=229&pictureid=1230
Red is a bit more "pow" but maybe a touch front-heavy?
The sable black with a bit of red airbrushing could be cool - flames or similar?
Sable Black is the best colour IMO. Love the green tinge in intense light

Same :)
Ordered my TJ grille and expected pure black, then discovered the green highlights - such a great match for the overall green paint job.
Of course, I could go all out and get a black/green chameleon special effects job...

howmuch did this paintjob cost? did the 2 tone cost more? or was it the same cost?
lowrider
03-12-2009, 07:42 PM
it cost me less than a normal respray, cuz it was mates rates. a ball park figure would be over $8000 for the full cost, as the car had to be marsked up and painted 3 times. the code as stated is YA
but it has also been known as X48.
by far the best threadmine
