G'day AMC. My name is Blake

This is going to sound strange but for me very exciting:

Back in 2004 we bought a 3.0 TF manual Wagon from Sci-Fleet, which we kept for two years. It had just 86000 on the clock, and drove like new. For some insane reason I decided to trade it in on a Vectra. Bad mistake. That was 2006. A year or so later we traded that on an a AU Falcon, which we still own.

For some reason I kept crossing paths with the Magna, in two different parts of Brisbane, across almost four years until it recently showed up two blocks away from home. The next thing I saw coming, the FOR SALE signs. I had to stop, yes it was our old TF wagon, still in good nick (I used to keep it polished), still had the 'Endrust' sticker on the tailgate.

Looked inside, price tag was $5900 (private sale). It sat for a few weeks, the price falling to $5000. I could contain myself no longer, I took it for a test drive. Still tight as a drum and quiet. Brand new tyres.

So I bought it. $4500. It's back in my garage again. My plan is to start driving it when the lease expires on my work car later this year! Oh and the mileage, 139000.

Issues, drivers seat foam base needs replacing, oil weep near front rocker cover, protection panel missing under engine. Hubcaps missing.

Anyway very happy that there is a good Magna forum. Expect to hear more from me!

Cheers
Blake

Thanks heaps for the welcomes once again!

Also, Balkanite, I very much appreciate the link to the workshop manuals. This will be handy so I can really get in and stuff something!

I have an electrical background (not automotive) and love nutting electrical stuff out. Not a mechanic , like many of you would be. I have never pulled apart an engine and rebuilt it.

So far it is great to be a part of the club. Thanks again to you all.

Welcome to the club.
Great story too.

An old friend of mine had a similar story. His Dad bought a Valiant Charger brand new and then, like you do, later sold it. About 15-20 years later he found it for sale (totally trashed & unmaintained). So he bought it & restored it.

My parents first car in Aust. was a red HQ Holden Wagon.
After it was sold, we saw it occasionally.
Later - approx. 10 years later, it found it's way back to us (sort of).
A guy, who lived about 4 doors down from us, bought it.
About a week later, he managed to back it into my sister's boyfriends car.

Interesting story, finding it in poor shape and restoring it. That's where I was lucky I guess.
I find it quite exciting to see cars I used to own or the family used to own. Often they have the same license plates.

Thanks for the welcome too mate
