Hi Guys, not sure if I should post this in audio but it is 380 specific.

PART 1

Ok I am starting the fit out of my 2006 LX and I have decided to share my story pics etc with every one. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN SP INSTALL BUT SQ!!!.

Ok to start with I had to order the sat nav dash piece cost around $240 comes with clock etc ( odd) and after kings balls ed it up twice I got the right color etc.

Installed optima yellow top, that I had kept from my magna, install. (PLEASE NOTE THAT TERMINALS ARE A PAIN AND GENERALLY WOULD NEED REPLACING WITH A BATTERY THIS SIZE)

I then began looking at head units etc now this is a matter of opinion but due to my 99% use of ipod with my music choose the ALPINE X001.

Please note that this is a pro fit out (haha i wish) and wanted to keep my steering wheel controls (thank you cat10 please ask if your not sure what this is) and kept my factory blue tooth via the head units interrupt line.

OK WORD OF WARNING THE FACTORY MANUAL CIRCUIT DIAGRAM IS INVERTED PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT IF YOU WIRING URESELF AS HARNESS IS NOT AVAILABLE!!!

I will post a pic when my phone stop p... me off.

thanks guys. Part 2 will be full sound deadening in the doors, roof, boot etc or I might do wiring in engine bay and dual battery etc.

Sorry for long post, please post comments.

I shall watch with interest. Went through all this last year in my Reno which was treated to Focal V2 (figured french speakers for a french car was appropriate. Plus they sound soooo nice!) with a shedload of deadener and MDF to hold them in tight.

I foolishly went with a Sony HU, so highly approve of your choice in Alpine (is that a 24bit unit?) - its my next upgrade!!

what speakers/amp/wiring etc you planning on? Using rear fill (factory ones probably ok for that small duty)? Using a sub?

My Last ride had v2's haha finding many other happy focal fans. Sorry about photo's will post them shortly (GF has camera, long story).... Wiring will more than likely be stinger 4gauge as I will only use 1 5 channel amp, no factory speakers will remain and yes a sub is deff on the cards potentially with an interesting mount (if achievable) stay tuned.

Part 2 coming soon

I wouldn't mind a couple of pics of the back the 380 radio, I want to find a way (hack maybe) the factory radio to adapt a RCA line in so I can make use of my Iriver H320.

Or a 6stack MP3 would suffice, which radio do have, and may I ask what you're gunna do with it?

You're probably the first person to change the standard radio/CD head unit in a 380 because of how they are integrated into the console, and wouldn't be easy to replace.
Of the 2 systems (ie 1 CD player or 6 CD player), I have the single player which appears to be the same as yours. The install looks good; the unit looks good in the console. Is that a coin tray underneath?

I am happy to say that no feature is lost with my install mate, still have bluetooth / sw controls etc. This is why I am posting so if any one else is thinking about it maybe I can help.

Under the Headunit is a just a pocket. Was going for a double din and came across this alpine last minute and haven't looked back.

Hey, Interested to hear how you got your steering wheel controls to work with the aftermarket head unit?
I got an aftermarker head unit put in my 380 a while ago, but the Car Audio bods said the people that make the little modules for steering wheel controls for them, havent made them yet.
Is this a special Apline module? or a generic module?

Also - good work with the Alpine head unit - looks nuts!
Can't get away from the infamous "Comm Error" though ;)

The intergrated head unit in the 380 isnt too bad to change over - you just need the replacement panel for the radio (mitsubishi call it the "accomodation kit" - as hoon said - it's used when you get the GPS option for the 380's)
the unit isnt as integrated as the falcon head units. they are actually in 2 peices.
The face panel pops off pretty easily, and behind (in the console) is a double din unit.

I got mine installed professionally (cos of all the little extras i wanted installed too) but im sure it wouldnt be overly hard for the DIY enthusiest.

gavski - its called a cat10 100% aussie product talk to your local audio guy (very easy to install don't let them charge for install) $200 odd distributed by stinger.

and yes the audio comm error I am working on a solution atm, will let you know if I find one.
