I have an issue and couldn't really find a definitive answer for it, When I brake all is well until the car slows down to walking pace and then the brakes start squeaking. Is there any reason why they only do it while braking at slow speeds?

The Pads were changed about 300kms ago and I never noticed the problem before this. The old pads were all but gone before they got changed.

Cheers

Did you follow the proper procedure in bedding them in? If not, you will set it up for squeaking... It might not be entirely too late at 300km - take it to a quiet road, and brake hard fom 60 to stop, back to 60 and down again hard. Repeat a dozen times and get lots of heat into them.

but if you put new pads on old glazed discs, the only real cure will machined/new rotors and re-bedding of the pads.

Not a "MAGNA" thing and has little to do with being bedded in either.

For starters, are they cheap rubbish?

Were the rotors machined?

When fitted, were the contact points on the bracket lubed with graphite grease and also was anti squeal applied to the back of the pad where the caliper and bracket contacts?

I didn't fit them, A mechanic did it when I recently had it serviced (about 300kms ago.) The Pads were worn down heaps, but they said the rotors were fine.

happens in a lot of cars. Even my dad's 06 triton does the same thing. Is usually a combo of many things. you can try the bedding in method but may just have to try ease off the brakes as much as possible.....or just use ya handbrake :p

I have heard giving them a good clean can work soemtimes, try some brake cleaner and get in there as much as you can. Also if there hasnt been enough or any of the special grease applied that can be a cause too.

I remember when I did work experience at a Toyota dealership, the price was still on the tin, it was something like $80 for a tiny tin and somehad highlighted it and written dont ****ing waste it lol

So it wouldnt suprise me if some mechanics are a bit stingy on it or use some other different type of grease that doesnt work properly.

my brakes squeal terribly cos i got ripped by a mechanic, ive got the parts to replace them, but just havent got round to it yet, they squeal so loud they turn heads, and close windows haha but i find if you have the music loud enough... you cant even hear them, but you get a headache...
