NE1 here had to put a HU in their 2nd Gen that had to be near horizontal for the disc's to eject?
Bought a temp replacement the other day that claims to work at 30º, but disc won't eject. HU won't sit level in the normal top section, so today I cut the din pocket out & the whole thing looks sh ite

If you've had to do 1, how'd you fit yours? (pics if possible please)

just finished installed a LCD TFT 7" monitor in mine, had no problem with disks etc etc, maybe worth raising it one place on the screw plates so it sits flatter...you should certainly be able to get it horizontal

Can't say I've ever had that issue, our deck is fitted into the same spot the factory radio is..

What I would do, take it back, complain that it doesn't work properly and isn't as described, and get a better deck!

haha my deck didnt fit into the cradle that came outta the car, the 2 front screws would fit onto each side of the deck but i couldnt get another hole for the 2 rear holes for each side of the deck, so to keep mine sitting flush and straight and to stop it from sagging upwards because there is no support to stop it from moving at the back, i used a stick i found on the ground and shoved it hard against the tunnel on the car and a hole on the bottom of the headunit haha, dodgy mechanic.

I'd say if it won't eject at 30 degrees, it has a fault. Even our el-cheapo $70 Kmart head unit that was fitted initially ejected at 30 degrees.

:stoopid: Wherever you got it from, take it back. It's useless otherwise.

Wombat, why didn't you just drill some new holes in the stock metal plate to suit?

Well, the drill was like 20 metres away and up a whole flight of stairs, and the stick was on the ground next to the car, do you see my predictament?

LOL. A stick.
you do understand when that stick falls or whatever you'll have to do it properly AGAIN
now I've learnt, do things properly the first time or dont do it at all!

LOL, the stick has been in there since October when i bought the car and put the headunit in, i only had to to take it out when i wired my sub in, its squashed in there pretty tight, took 5 seconds to put in and saved me walking my lazy ass up like 13 stairs.

*LOL* at Wombat, reminds me of days gone by, carring bits of fencing wire just incase something broke on the old Holden (read; not dunny door) :bowrofl:

Yep, like Wombat, the original radio brackets would'nt line up & exiting holes to close to where I had to drill :(
Horizontaly would've banged it into a peice behind the dash. Only a temp unit till I'm allowed to buy a decent 1

... I don't get it. I got a metal surround with mine that enables me to secure it to the plastic? lol. That's how mine's in there- it's kinda hanging off the plastic facia thing via a metal bracket that you bend small tabs to hold it in.

I thought all stereos came with one as standard, when I removed the existing unit I just took those old brackets off.

Nah, go the OEM fitment, a hell of a lot harder for someone to nick for starters, and much more stable. And once you've removed the console a few times, you can get it out in 2mins flat.

actually, I went the extra two steps of putting about 2layers of electrical tape around the deck to make it extra tight (had a problem with one slipping bak once.

Now I have a different problem, you can't slide the metal prongs into the sides to undo the deck, they get caught on the tape. Virtually unstealable unless you take the centre consols facia out-which I don't think someone will do if they're in a rush.lol.

Or get a Verada centre console
Instead of the HU being bolted to the fascia its bolted to the console itself and the surround is just that, a surround. saves you having to remove the CD player EVERYTIME you want to remove the surround

?
If I follow what you are saying, that is how mine is setup? I remove the surround in order to get to the CD player...

Well yeah I'm guessing yours would have it then. All the exec's came with the one DIN and the tissue box underneath had the CD player held to the frontal fascia via that metal sleeve.
And yeah like i said before the rada one and i think SE? (not sure on that?) had the CD player and whatever else attached into the car with metal brackets and the fascia just clips over the top. much more sexier, much more nicer especially when ou need to use the double DIN thing

Are you sure someone hadn't replaced yours previously? 'Cause I'm pretty sure the bolt-in setup is standard across the range (obviously Verada is dual DIN, but the single-DIN ones also came this way - no metal sleeve?)

In my car (SE), i can remove the whole fascia surround and my headunit is still secured in with the metal frame and stick.
EDIT: This doesnt make much sense to even me, when i remove my fascia surround, my headunit remains attached to a metal frame behind the fascia and doesnt come off when the fascia does.

My Exec is the same.
