Hi Folks
I have a minor oil leak, I think I know where it's coming from but open to suggestions:
I think it is coming from this cover thingo here (oil around nut)

Then running down here where the engine no. is stamped

And dripping off this nut here onto the metal rail

Would appreciate any feedback
cheers

Yep, that looks like the front head end plug, they are known to leak. From memory, there is an 'O' ring seal behind the flange. Remove the plate and renew the 'O' ring.

All done
JUST enough clearance to remove the top bolt and remove the plug. The O-ring was rock hard and broke apart like plastic when removed. Washed down the engine and went for a 10k highway drive. Not a weep of oil. I think we fixed it Pablo.
Thanks very much once again

Good on yer there My TF, a little bit of simple follow up as you have done will encourage some of the other less experienced boys to 'have a go'.
Cheers, Pablo:bowdown:

i think i may have this issue also.i have a minor oil leak somewhere.. i can smell it.. . where exactly is it?? i would do it today.. however its now after 12 and as far as i know mitsi spares shuts as 12.. so it might be a monday job.. but some help would be greatly appreciated..
also.. where would the leak be if when i pulled my leads off spark plug 1, there is oil around the top (not in the spark plug champer itself, but where it seals at the top).. i noticed it the other day when i was checking a few things..
cheers..

Hi David
Look about two inches to the right of the oil filler and down the side a bit. There is a diamond-shaped cover held in with two bolts. Go buy the o-ring first, remove this cover and simply replace the o-ring. There is just enough clearance between the top bolt and the water pump return to get the top bolt loose and the plug cover off with a bit of a jiggle. See my first pic in the op
**By the way pull out the air intake snorkel to gain much better access**

thanks mate.. much appreciated.. will go have a look and see how it goes..
**edit**
after haveing a look and finding it.. i dont think its that.. there is way too much crap around for it just to be that.. i think it may be the rocker cover gasket, which would then explain why there is oil around the top of the leads where is goes into the spark plugs.. yet another problem i have to solve:rant:

David what a bummer.
Hope someone can help. Might be time open a new thread mate and ask for help from those more expeirenced. Give your engine a good wash and have another look in a day or two.
Hope its nothing major
best wishes

UPDATE
Uh-Oh. The oil is starting to gather on the same nut again. But its no where near as bad as it was before the o-ring was replaced. Seems to be weeping from the front rocker cover near the front but it's really hard to tell for sure.
More suggestions would be a huge help.
cheers

This turned out to be some residue from the original problem. Another more thorough engine wash and its all good.
